New FMCSA video with Return-to-Duty process instructions for CDL drivers

Commercial Drivers License (CDL) and Commercial Learning Permit (CLP) holders that have a “prohibited” status in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse will lose their commercial driving privileges until the driver completes the return-to-duty process.

This video summarizes the steps these drivers have to take to change their Clearinghouse status back to “not prohibited.”

Clearinghouse II Updates: To learn more about how this might affect drivers that still have a prohibited status in the FMCSA Clearinghouse go to FAQ section https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov/FAQ/Topics/CDL-Downgrades.

Quick tip: The license will be downgraded for all drivers who have a prohibited status. Once the CDL driver successfully completes their return-to-duty process and their status is changed to “not prohibited”, the State Driver Licensing Agency (SDLA) will allow the driver to reinstate their commercial driving privileges. To be changed from “prohibited” to “not prohibited”, an FMCSA covered employer must enter the negative return-to-duty test into the Clearinghouse.
