What is the Supervisor’s Role & Responsibility for the Company?

  • Maintain safe, healthy, and productive work environment
  • Ensure public safety
  • Ensure employees follow all safety requirements including drug and alcohol requirements
  • Require testing of employees who violate the drug and alcohol program

Requirements for Supervisors:

  • Know your company’s policy/plan and how to promote the policy/plan with company employees
  • Learn the physical signs and symptoms of possible drug and alcohol abuse in the workplace
  • Gain knowledge of the performance indicators of drug and alcohol abuse in the workplace
  • Understand how to document a reasonable suspicion event of drug and/or alcohol abuse
  • Become familiar with the skills needed for good supervisory communication
  • Know what resources are available to assist an employee
